Before You Go
Order your travellers cheques and foreign currency. Ensure your passport is valid. If you cannot remember your PIN for your debit/credit card order a reminder PIN before you go. Remember, you cannot use your cards abroad without your PIN.

When you arrive:
Ensure that you have enough physical cash with you in case you cannot get access to an ATM.
Commission charges:
At NWME we have no commission charges. Whilst abroad, be aware of some foreign exchange bureaux that advertise that they have no commission charges, but will charge higher rates to compensate.
Using your Debit/Credit Card Abroad:
In some countries when using a debit/credit card you need to show your passport as proof of identity so always carry it with you.
Insurance:
Ensure you have valid travel insurance to cover any unforeseen circumstances.
Car Hire:
If hiring a car abroad ensure you take both parts of your licence, the plastic card and the paper counterpart. Ensure that your driving licence is accepted in the country you are travelling to. If baby car seats are needed, book these in advance.
Safety:
When going out abroad, only take as much money as you need. If there is a safe facility at the hotel, use it to store the rest of your money and valuables.
When you get back:
Check your credit card and bank accounts to verify all transactions. Report any suspicious activity to your card issuer. |
